Today's key (June 10th) has been won.

Z V G has won today's key.  He was the first to send us the correct code of the day which was 'the pencil pusher is mightier than the eyelander'.  It was hidden at the end of my profile on the right side and said "This is for the item o' the day...(the pencil pusher is mightier than the eyelander) move fast!".  Congratulations to Z V G for winning the key.  Good luck to everyone for tomorrow's free key (more info here).

correction: the common phrase is "the pen is mightier than the sword" and had "sword" in my brain when I posted the winner above.  The full code was of course the original phrase I posted with "eyelander".

  1. I saw this as soon as it was posted, but I only sent Pencil Pusher because I thought it was the code. Argh.

So I don't get it. Is the code we have to send you the entire sentence or just the keyword(s)?

Also, shouldn't the code have been '...mightier than the eyelander' instead of sword?

  2. I just wonder, around what time does the first correct guesses come in? I'd be nice to know if I do in fact have a time in my timezone, or if it's all just a waste.

    1. Slam: not sure what you mean exactly. The timing of the codes is random throughout each day. It could be at 7am eastern standard time, it could be at 7pm. The first correct guesses come in generally within 5 minutes of the code being put on the page. The harder ones so far maybe take 10-15 minutes but all are found fairly quickly. You'll have 20 more chances this month so good luck!

  3. Eric there were a couple emails before yours in the inbox anyhow so even if you had sent the complete code, you wouldn't have won today. The complete code was with eyelander, typo from the blog post above. Yes, people are that fast.

If the code is just given out it will be labeled and separated from whatever text draws you to it. In this case it was in parenthesis ( ) but it could be quotes or something else.
